Crin, the art of horsehair

This is a traditional Chilean unique art made with horsehair.
Many different miniature figures are made by artisans from the central zone of Chile. Flowers, earrings, butterflies, necklaces, baskets, angels etc. with beautiful colors of natural dyeing  and a lot of dedication.

Cálido Chile

Cálido means warm and it's the brand of the business that I wanted to create for a long time. This is the opportunity to show different kind of Chilean art and artists and find people out of Chile who wants to know and get some of this beautiful creations. I'm also interested in contemporary art inspired in the traditional forms so "Cálido Chile" is almost an excuse for me to learn and have great fun searching for creations and artists all around my Country and build this shop giving the artist a possibility to expand with a fair treatment and respect.

Let me tell you a little about my Country and It's art:

We have a beautiful north with the Altiplano,  High lands with oasis valleys that we share with Perú, Bolivia and Argentina, also the Atacama Desert. This is the land of ethnic art like Aimara and Diaguita. Colorful tissues called aguayos, alpaca wool and musical instruments like zampoñas and Charangos.

The central zone it´s famous for the chilean wine, vegetables and fruits that we export, all of this in a mediterranean weather. It´s also the land of the Crin Art, a delicate tissue made with horse hair  and a lot of dedication, it's one of the most original and colorful traditional art in my country. We also have wicker furnitures or home decor and clay art.

Then, in the south we go deeper in to the cold weather and amazing green forests. This is the land of different wools (also alpaca) with natural and very rustic dyed processes. From the mapuche art in the Araucanía to the inspire wood carving from Chiloé and also the work with leather that we found in Patagonia.

There's a lot of other art expressions and I will write about them while I search and offer each work in my facebook page: Calidochile and also in my Ebay shop with the same name that I will open very soon.

Thanks for Visiting Cálido Chile!!!
